THE ASTROLOGY OF DEATH, by Richard Houck
Surely one of the best astrology books ever written, The Astrology of Death is a groundbreaking work on an unusual subject by one of Vedic Astrology's most iconoclastic and original thinkers. Written mainly for Western astrologers, this book investigates and dismisses the usual muddy techniques for predicting death, disease, accidents, and other calamities, and instead puts forth Houck's own compelling theories that shatter the boundaries between Vedic and Western techniques and will completely change the way you think about astrology. Bursting at the seams with stories, anecdotes, and literally hundreds of complete examples, this book can be read over and over without ever seeming to exhaust its store of great ideas. -- HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

SUBTLETIES OF MEDICAL ASTROLOGY, by Dr. K. S. Charak
Dr. Charak is both a surgeon -- the prestigious Head of the Department of Surgery at Indira Gandhi Hospital in Delhi -- and a Vedic astrologer of the highest caliber. With his intimate knowledge of both health and astrology, the doctor was the perfect person to write a book that combines both subjects. In Subtleties of Medical Astrology, he outlines the entire spectrum of jyotish techniques for both understanding and predicting a person's health based on their chart, including: the use of multiple dashas (Vimshottari, Chara, and Yogini) to confirm the same event, the divisional and transit charts, retrograde planets, malefic conjunctions, the Trik houses and lords, the twenty-second drekkana and sixty-fourth navamsa, and a lesser-known but adverse area called the Mritya Bhaga (or "death-inflicting point"). All of these are heavily illustrated with actual charts and case studies from his own practice. If you want to know how to predict health with great accuracy, this is the book for you. -- RECOMMENDED

THE GREATNESS OF SATURN, by Dr. Robert Svoboda
In this unusual and compelling book, Robert Svoboda (author of the amazing Aghora series) takes an in-depth look at the classic Indian text known as the Shani Mahatmyam, or The Greatness of Saturn. As the subtitle, A Therapeutic Myth suggests, the reading of this text is often prescribed by jyotishis in India as a remedy for difficulties with Saturn. Dr. Svoboda retells the tale with his trademark zest, and adds to it sections describing the "propitation" (i.e. - ritual worship with intent to ease negative effects and increase positive ones) of all the planets in the Vedic Astrological style. If you are going through a Sadesati (7.5 years of Saturn crossing over your Moon) or the Western Saturn return (Saturn coming back to the sign it was in when you were born) just reading this book can bring great relief, just as the other practices detailed inside can do. All while enjoying an entertaining read from one of Vedic Astrology's most talented and interesting authors. - RECOMMENDED
